Literacy Overview

Literacy skills are central to all our pupils reaching their potential, gaining knowledge and preparing for life beyond school. As well as developing skills in reading, writing, talking & listening, pupils access knowledge through technology, media and texts. They have opportunities to discuss, evaluate and engage in creative activities within the classroom and to build on social and communication skills, enabling them to participate fully within the wider school and local community.

Modern  languages (BGE)

Scottish Government's ambition is to expand and improve language learning, by 2020, so that our young people are equipped with the skills and competencies they need in our increasingly globalised world. From 2020 every child is entitled to learn a first additional language from primary one and a second by primary five. This entitlement continues until the end of S3.

In Carrongrange High School French is taught to all S1-S3 pupils.
